Swallowed by His Strength

Miles of trials
and sorrow smiles
sink deep the feet
in silence speak
of eagle wing and sing
with fear-sliced heart
and trace the scar
of sacrifice
and blood-stained sheet
where hidden knife
carves hurting flesh
kneel trembling
to weep for her
and rise again
to face what may
its breadth and length
with weakness swallowed
by His strength.

"Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2 (NIV)

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Oh, that is powerful. The "miles of trials"...

and this, too:

"in silence speak
of eagle wing and sing
with fear-sliced heart"

This is great. Deep subject but felt like a cool breeze (if that makes any sense). Thanks Sandra.

I'd like to absorb that one for awhile ... the full strength of all He's done.

This has a nice rhythm and rhyme. There's a lot of hurting in the imagery and then, as you say, His strength.

I'm being very un-original here, but that "weakness swallowed by strength" really resonated with me too.

Talk about creating a thought-filled poem! I've read it and read it and read it again and see something differently each time.
